Please if you use this app, any feedback will be wellcome and will help in further development and bug solving. To post feedback use this web forum or the XDA developers one (search for the ThrottleLauncher thread ofcourse).

 

ThrottleLauncher will disable the security checks for 3rd party software from your device. This is necesary because TL uses reflection to load assemblies and the popup dialog will crash the system if it appears.

Prerequisites

- Phone enabled device (Themes for non phone enabled devices can be built though)

- CPU: 200 Mhz

- Storage Memory: ~2 MB (depends on the themes installed)

- Main memory: ~ 5 MB

- NET.CF 2.0 installed. Though 3.5 is strongly recomended.

- Windows Mobile 5.0 or Greatter.

- To use flash plugin you need flashplayer 7 installed.

- Any device manufacturer is supported!!

Download this files to install from your device (copy the cab's using ActiveSync and run them from your device in the order specified).

Instalation

1. Backup your device data.
2. If you don't have a previous instalation skip to point 8.
3. Backup your ThrottleLauncher directory if you have a previous instalation, specially if you have a customized theme.
4. Unselect the today plugin if you have it activated.
5. Softreset
6. Uninstall all the previous versions of ThrottleLauncher.
7. Softreset
8. Copy the cab files you want to install using ActiveSync and continue this steps using your device.
9. Install the ThrottleLauncher.cab file.
10. Select ThrottleToday as today plugin (Start Menu > Settings > Today) and uncheck all other today plugins.
11. ThrottleLauncher must now be showing on your Today screen. Congrats!!

ThrottleConfig

ThrottleConfig is the app that controls the configuration of the ThrottleLauncher framework. This is configuration options that do not depend on the themes them selfs (each theme has it's own options and settings you can edit commonly from the main theme interface or from ThrottleConfig config buttons.)

 

To launch ThrottleConfig go to StartMenu > Programs > ThrottleConfig. Through ThrottleConfig you will be able to:

- Select the themes used both by the TodayPlugin or by the stand alone app. For the today plugin you can use the advanced mode to tweak the height and some other options, though most of the theme's will automatically fit the device screen.

- Change the app database used by ThrottleLauncher. Throttlelauncher automatically syncs your StartMenu apps with it's database, though you may like to customize the icons used by your apps, disable some other apps or add some more manually. This is the place to do that. You can organize your apps in categories you can latter use diractly in the themes, allowing them to filter wich categories to use in each place (i.e. favorites category).

- Manage the global settings for ThrottleLauncher. In the settings tab you can config ThrottleLauncher core options. This include:

• Buffer policy. With this option you can control how much memory ThrottleLauncher uses for buffer cache. A low number will make TL work slower but it will take more memory. A big number will make TL work a lot faster but it will take some more memory.
• Enable GSensor and it's sensibility. You will be able to control the scrolling by moving your device!! (Only devices with the apropiate hardware ofcourse).
• Enable the haptic feedback. Note no all devices are compatible with this option.
• Acceleration and friction of the scrolling.
• Debug mode. Enable this mode if you plan to report a bug or problem.
  

 

First steps (Light3D theme)

Ligth3D theme must work out of the box on your device but there are some options you will like to play with in order to have ThrottleLauncher working 100% :).

In the home page you can find an arrow in the top left corner. Clicking on it will show a little dialog with 3 options:

- Add widgets: use this one to add more widgets to the home page. You can download a lot of more widgets, just search for them at the forums.

- Unlock / Lock widgets: you can move widgets by dragging them. In order to do this you need to have the widgets unlocked (the test shown must be Lock widgets, meaning that the widgets are free now ;) ). By default the widgets are locked, click on the option to toggle between both modes.

- Theme settings: using this item you can access to the variety of configuration options available for the theme. Clicking will make a dialog popup. Drag your finger on the tabs from left to right to show more options. In each tab you will be able to select between several configuration options like:

• Programs scrolling mode, folder displayed and transparency.
• Embeded today plugins.
• Calendar options (even embed a today plugin instead of using the default calendar).
• Contacts scrolling, or embed iContacts.
  
• Footer icons actions. You can make the icons launch an external app instead of the default page.
• UI Tweaks: here it's really important that you find the best settings fitting your device. Specially with the true / fake transparency.

• New option in the settings tab to allow controlling how much memory you want to use to keep backbuffers. 0=Don't save backbuffers -> 10=Save all the backbuffer. If you have enought free memory you should definately check 10!! Page changing is almost automatic (it may take about 2-3 MB more of RAM).

• Fixed issue causing ActiveSync to disconnet when scrolling the footer.
• Solved VGA screen incompatibility problems in ThrottleConfig.

Theme development

• Faster direct scrolling when using transparent background pictures
• Now you can specify text format as [FontName,]Size,FontStyle1|FontStyle2|...|FontStyleN where font styles can be any of:
  • Regular -  Normal text.
  • Bold - Bold text.
  • Italic - Italic text.
  • Underline - Underlined text.
  • Strikeout - Text with a line through the middle.

forexample: fonttype="17,Bold|Underline|Italic" will make 17 an Bold, underlined, italic standar font
fonttype="Arial,17,Strikeout|Italic" will make Arial 17 Italic and Strikeout font.
