A skin is a set of attributes contained in a skin.xml file defining the appearance of the elements it is applied to. A theme must have at least one skin defined in the parameters section of the config.xml file. These parameters are then defaults for the entire theme.
Furthermore a skin may be applied to pages (is this true?) and rows with the "skin" attributes.
The value of the skin paramter of attribute is the path of a folder. This folder must then contain a skin.xml file
