Problems during startup

  • The plugin is not loading:
    • ensure you have NET.CF 2.0 or greater installed in your device.
    • ensure your device OS is WM5 or WM6 / 6.1
    • ensure that you have correcly configured a theme for the todayplugin. To do that open the throttleconfig app and select a theme in the combo box.
    • try another theme to check if it's a problem related with throttlelauncher or with the theme.
    • remove the vars.xml file located in the theme folder. (this will reset the theme defaults).
    • if none of this works open a new thread in the forum's bug report attaching your device details (Model and ROM) and the log files (ThrottleToday.txt, ThrottleToday2.txt, ThrottleLauncher.txt, ThrottleConfig.txt).
  • Theme starts up and shows but the device freezes:
    • try another theme to check if it's a problem related with throttlelauncher or with the theme.
    • If the problem is realted with throttle open a new thread in the forum's bug report attaching your device details (Model and ROM) and the log files (ThrottleToday.txt, ThrottleToday2.txt, ThrottleLauncher.txt, ThrottleConfig.txt). If it's not report to the theme creator.

Problems while running themes

  • It's very slow (Note ThrottleLauncher is supposed to work fluent in devices with at least 200 Mhz processors.)
    • First identify what exactly is working slow:
      • Scrolling: try changing the config for the transparency. First of all ensure you are not using true transparency (commonly this will be under UI settings of the theme config dialog). Use fake transparency. If this doesn't work neither try disabling both transparent modes.
      • Page changing: not too much can be done to improve this... You can try reducing the components load of the pages by even removing apps (use ThrottleCofig appdb tab to disable some apps) or by removing widgets.
      • Slowing down the device: ensure to disable the displaying of secconds on the analog clocks. Also if possible remove clock widgets.

  • The footer in direct scrolling mode (diamond like) is working weird.
    • Check if this also happens when you don't hide the bottom bar (change that by clicking advanced in ThrottleConfig). Some devices like Omnia have a bug that make the "mouse" event work incorrectly in the place where the bottom bar is located.
    • Try using another footer mode and open a new thread in the forum's bug report attaching your device details (Model and ROM) and the log files (ThrottleToday.txt, ThrottleToday2.txt, ThrottleLauncher.txt, ThrottleConfig.txt).
  • Some of the features (like wifi, bluetooth, etc) doesn't work
    • Try a softreset of the device
    • open a new thread in the forum's bug report attaching your device details (Model and ROM) and the log files (ThrottleToday.txt, ThrottleToday2.txt, ThrottleLauncher.txt, ThrottleConfig.txt).

Problems with theme codification

  • Check the log files to see if they are providing any information related with the theme.
  • open a new thread in the forum's bug report attaching your theme or the relevant xml's, the device details (Model and ROM) and the log files (ThrottleToday.txt, ThrottleToday2.txt, ThrottleLauncher.txt, ThrottleConfig.txt).

Critical situation recovery

If you find that ThrottleLauncher locks the device on each startup due to some theme or app problem you can usually, even if the device seems blocked, connect your device to a PC using ActiveSync. Then access your ThrottleLauncher instalation folder and rename ThrottleTodayPlugin.exe to anything else and softreset. An error will appear after startup but you will be able to work with your device normally.
